Saly has a natural gift for singing and performing, which was already widely recognized when she was participating in a national talent contest at the age of nine. By 11, she was contributing to recorded music. 

Her debut album Mali Kelen, released March 27 2026 on Remote Records/Studio Mali, is not the beginning of her story — it is the moment she steps out front. 
Her parents, ngoni virtuoso, songwriter/composer Andra Kouyaté (currently touring with Tiken Jah Fakoly) and singer Mabara Soumano, and other family members, including her Grammy-nominated uncle Bassekou Kouyaté, provided her with the necessary time and space to find her own style. 

The album contains ten original songs written by Saly Kouyaté and Andra Kouyaté. It moves between Manding tradition and reggae, between the intimate and the anthemic, and it is grounded throughout by a voice that is at once classic and entirely her own — rooted in the griot tradition she grew up inside, but unmistakably contemporary in where it goes.
